Apple versus Google

YouTube to include captions for hearing impaired, meetings

Google today will make available automatic speech recognition captioning for its YouTube video selection. You can also add captioning manually by following directions on YouTube's site here.

Once your transcription is in, you can allow YouTube/Google Translate to transcribe the captioning into 51 different languages. That might also help international viewers enjoy your content and spread its message.

Google, being the search behemoth, will also be able to crawl the transcriptions and index their content for relevant video searches more easily. There's always a tie in isn't there?

This feature will not only help out the hard of hearing and the global community, it wll also help those long boring meetings go by a little quicker.

What People Are Saying

Close Captions

As a Deaf reader, it bothered me that I could not watch the movies or trailers or voice vlogs because of the lack of captioning. This news excites me. Thank you to You Tube and Google for adding this.
