Google Chrome extensions: They don't work yet

Google announced today that extensions would work with the PC version of Chrome. But I've got the latest version of Chrome, and was at the Google Extensions Page a few minutes ago, and it reports that "Extensions are not yet supported in this version of Google Chrome." What gives?

On the official Google blog, Brian Rakowski, Product Manager says that "If you're on a PC or a Linux machine, you can check out more than 300 extensions in the [Chrome Extensions] gallery." Up until now, you needed the developer version of Chrome, but Google says that's no longer the case.

So I headed over to the gallery, and here's what it says at the top of the page: "Extensions are not yet supported in this version of Google Chrome. Please download the Beta Channel of Google Chrome to install extensions." The site says that the developer version of Chrome is needed. But Google today said that is no longer the case. You can see a screenshot, below.

I checked out descriptions of several extensions, and in every one, the Install button was grayed out. Next, I checked my version of Chrome, to make sure that it's up to date. It is --- see the screenshot below.

If anyone has any advice for me, let me know below.

Update: What Google neglected to mention in its announcement about extensions is that they don't work with the current stable version of Chrome. You'll need to download a Chrome beta in order to get them to work. I've done that, checked out dozens, and chosen my five favorites.
