Texting got her fired!

I recently read in my local paper of a student who turned in her bus-driver for texting while driving. It's bad enough when someone is texting when they are driving alone, but with a bus full of children, it's criminal. She called her father who advised her to tell the driver to stop. A quiet kid, she said she felt "uncomfortable" confronting "authority" and instead chose to just take a picture using her phone. She sent it to her father and he in turn brought it to the attention of the school who notified the bus company. With zero tolerance for this type of behavior, the bus company fired the driver.
Most states have some kind of laws restricting cell phone use while driving, but what about texting? Seems to me that this is far more dangerous as you need to take your eyes from the road for extended periods of time. People complain about loss of privacy with all the "picture phones" around. I say, when put to good use as in this situation, a picture is worth a 1000 words.
