Shark Tank

Look, it makes them FEEL more secure, OK?

Boss asks this IT pilot fish to make sure he's able to log in from his PC at home.

"We used to be able to install a VPN client on our home machines, which allowed us to access work using our SecurID fobs," fish says.

"This was determined to be insufficiently secure, because the machines weren't owned by the company. This despite the fact that at work we're running Windows XP, and at home I have the latest patched Windows 7 with antivirus and a firewall.

"So I was told to use a special server, a security appliance that was accessed via a browser and would let me access my work environment in a secure way.

"Problem was, it didn't work. I got warning messages that were inaccurate.

"I wrote an IT ticket, and the analyst contacted me to say that I should try it again, but this time disable the firewall and turn off the anti-virus.

"Talk about more secure..."
