So it's finally announced: the Verizon iPhone 4 is coming. But is it in the slightest bit interesting for enterprise users? Or is it just a consumer product? Let's analyze the pros and cons, in The Long View...
Today's Verizon Wireless announcement clarified the situation on which Jonny Evans speculated yesterday. Here are the highlights:
- 3G CDMA2000 (not '4G' LTE, as some thought) replacing the original GSM/UMTS/HSPA radio
- Antenna modification, tuned for Verizon CDMA2000 'diversity'
- Other than the above, no hardware changes to the original iPhone 4
- Can be used as a MiFi-like wireless hotspot
- Available February 10 (perhaps earlier for existing Verizon customers)
So far, so peachy. But what if you're a business user? Is this useful?
