Ladies and gentlemen, the wait's been long, but the Android 2.2 upgrade is finally here for Sprint's Samsung Epic 4G phone.
A Sprint employee posted a message on the company's Epic 4G forum this morning confirming that Froyo will roll out to the Epic starting Monday, February 21. Sprint expects the rollout to be finished within five days, meaning all Epic users should have the software by Friday, February 25.
[UPDATE (2/22/11): The rollout began as scheduled late Monday night. Sprint still anticipates completing process by Friday. You can also manually download and install the update to your Epic here if you use a PC and here if you use a Mac.]
This makes the Epic the second Samsung Galaxy S phone to receive Android 2.2 in the United States. T-Mobile released Froyo for its Samsung Vibrant device late last month. Neither Verizon nor AT&T has announced a firm date for their Galaxy S upgrades, though information about an upgrade for AT&T's Captivate did briefly appear on Samsung's website earlier this week. Within hours, however, the page was removed.
