The company where this IT pilot fish works is going through a restructuring that will include laying off a few hundred IT workers -- but it's surprisingly civilized.
"The firm has been very fair with the process, giving between 6 and 18 months' notice, a generous severance package and placement help," says fish.
"An on-site job fair was also scheduled, where transitional employees could meet with potential employers and recruiters. HR sent out a notice to the entire organization, including employees not impacted by the layoffs, to remind associates of the time and location of the job fair.
"A follow-up email was quickly sent out, stating that this job fair was just for those being let go."
