When it comes to sad stories about data loss, Sean Barry has seen it all. Call him paranoid, but he's seen enough that he now tells his clients that you need at least three types of backups to minimize the risk of catastrophic data loss.
After spending years recovering data from damaged media as a data recovery engineer at Kroll Ontrack, Barry went on to found his own consulting company, Barry Business Solutions, which focuses on preventing data loss instead of reacting to it.
"Most organizations do not think about planning or recovery until it is actually happening to them," he says, and when it does occur, they may react in ways that make it worse. "I can provide what not to do during a business disruption or data loss," he says.
