Director of data security for a big medical IT firm decides it's time to tighten up security on all email document transactions, reports a pilot fish on the inside.
"A new policy was issued, stating that 'All Word, Excel or PowerPoint documents sent either internally or externally must be sent as PDF files,'" fish says. "I won't go into the false assumptions behind this, or the fact that a virus hit us a while ago riding on PDF documents.
"But can you guess which format was used to send out this policy? Answer: A Word document. At least most of the metadata had been removed..."
