Google's Android Ice Cream Sandwich release is almost here, and little by little, details are trickling out about which devices will get a taste.
After a vague initial statement, HTC spilled the beans today on what phones it'll upgrade to the new ICS OS. In a posting on its official Facebook page, HTC said it's marked eight phones for the "first wave" of upgrades to Ice Cream Sandwich. HTC also said it's "continuing to assess [its] product portfolio" -- so in other words, if your phone isn't on this list, don't give up hope just yet.
Without further ado, then, the phones HTC plans to upgrade to ICS first:
-
HTC Amaze 4G
-
HTC EVO 3D
-
HTC EVO Design 4G
-
HTC Sensation
-
HTC Sensation XE
-
HTC Sensation XL
-
HTC Vivid
As for timing, HTC is only saying "early 2012" at this point. Once Google actually releases Ice Cream Sandwich and posts the platform's source code, manufacturers will hopefully start giving us some more specific time frames.
