In 1962, songwriter Malvina Reynolds saw the large numbers of tract homes springing up on the hillsides in Daly City, Calif. (a suburb of San Francisco), and was inspired to write the song "Little Boxes," a snippet of which is above. If you're into 1960's songs about middle class conformity, you may not have a positive association with lots of interchangeable "little boxes."
In storage, however, lots of interchangeable little boxes are not only beautiful but the wave of the future.
