CES: Lenovo shows 2012 IdeaTabs beat 2010 iPad

Lenovo IdeaPad S2 At CES 2012, Lenovo (HKG:0992) will show off its new IdeaTab line. The S2 improves on 2010's iPad design and the K2 on 2011's iPad 2. In IT Blogwatch, bloggers wonder why China is getting them first.

Agam Shah reports the K2 launch:
[The] 10-in. IdeaTab K2..tablet has Nvidia's quad-core Tegra 3 processor and Google's Android 4.0 OS. .. [It] packs some new technologies such as DDR3 memory. .. [It] will be shown at this week's..CES in Las Vegas.

The tablet's closest competitor will be Asus' Eee Pad Transformer Prime. .. K2 will display images at a 1200 by 800 pixel resolution. .. Other features include an HDMI port..a full-size USB port..1GB or 2GB of DDR3 memory, and up to 64GB of storage.

Lenovo also detailed its cloud strategy, saying..applications can access or exchange data through private or public clouds. .. The cloud service will be launched later in 2012.    M0RE
  
Devindra Hardawar adds S2 details:
IdeaPad S2..weighs only 1.1 pounds and is one-third of an inch thick. .. [It] has a keyboard dock [with] a battery of its own [giving] the tablet..up to 20 hours of battery life.

Wait. IdeaTab? What happened to the IdeaPad brand? Lance Ulanoff explains:
No, that’s not a typo, Lenovo is rebranding..tablets “IdeaTabs”. IdeaPads are not going away, but that moniker will forever more denote..laptop[s].

[The] IdeaTab S2-10..[is] thin (.34 inches) and light (1.3 lbs.)..[has] forward and rear facing cameras (the rear is 5 MP), Wi-Fi and 3G (with voice call support!)..and even HDMI out. Inside are 64 GB of storage and a dual-core 1.7 GHz Qualcomm CPU.

[It] should ship sometime this spring. .. Lenovo has some other tablets in the works, but they’re primarily for the Chinese market.    M0RE
