Asterisk in trouble

Here's a rather worrying post about whether Asterisk will be the next dinosaur.
It all boils down to changes within the Asterisk code which are breaking existing apps and installations, and breaking the distributions and applications based on the Asterisk code base.
These kind of changes make updates and upgrades difficult, and, as the blog states, people are beginning to rely on the functionality of their Asterisk installations. Affecting that compatibility could have a serious effect on the business operations of the companies that rely on Asterisk.
