Be a project management Genius

Genius Inside SA, the Geneva-based project management vendor will join the ranks of software companies that offer their product as software as a service. CEO Christophe Borlat says the new SaaS version was built from the ground up as a multi-tenant application and that the company will continue to offer its on-premise Genius Inside project management tool for the IBM Domino market as it has since 1997.

According to Borlat, Genius Project, as the SaaS version will be called, has capabilities not yet available in the Genius Inside. For example, Genius Project adds a role-based matrix planning feature that lets you adjust the tool to match your internal business processes. That is, if project managers dominate task assignments and deadlines in your company, you can set the software accordingly. However, if department managers oversee the workloads of their staff and set deadlines for individuals working on multiple projects, that too can be established in the software.

Borlat says the SaaS version can be hosted on either a Linux or Windows server. The latter, he says, is important for companies that want tight integration with Microsoft Office. In fact, Genius Project lets users choose to have a Microsoft Project look and feel with the click of a button, Borlat claims. Genius Project goes live on April 15 and pricing starts at $30 per user per month.
