Boingo announces Wi-Fi at Starbucks

RHODES, GREECE -- Boingo announced today in an e-mail newsletter to customers that it plans to extend its Wi-Fi hotspot coverage to include all Starbucks in the U.S. They already cover McDonald's and airports. Time to bounce back to Boingo?
The Boingo Wi-Fi hotspot service provides access through a wide range of partnerships. One of those partnerships is with AT&T which, as you know, partners with Starbucks to replace T-Mobile as the provider of in-store Wi-Fi.
According to the blog Web Worker Daily, a Boingo customer newsletter announced today that customers would be able to get unlimited Wi-Fi access at all Starbucks restaurants without extra charge by the end of the year.
The newsletter also announced that non-paying customers with iPhones would get 15 minutes of free Wi-Fi after watching a 15-second ad, a freebie that would eventually be rolled out to the owners of other handsets. It's not clear whether iPhone customers will be able to keep using additional bandwidth in exchange for additional ad viewing.
Boingo is already more common at the airports I travel through, and provides access at thousands of McDonald's and other locations. They seem to cover more locations than any other company.
