Bugging Blago

ABC News posted an article and some court records from the FBI Special Agent in charge of the investigation of Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Some details are revealed that show how the evidence was gathered, and the article is a pretty good read if you are interested in how the FBI does this kind of thing.
The story really kind of dies in the first couple of paragraphs since they only have details in the court document (I am assuming they couldn't get an interview with the investigating Special Agent since he is running the case), so the reason the article is a good read is because they had to dig up a couple of former feds to find some detail about how these types of investigations occur.Â
Some of the interesting points are the feds talking about the kinds of bugs that are used and how the feds get into houses and offices to actually plant the bugs. One story about using an empty refrigerator box to conceal the agent as he picked the lock was pretty good. Hackers and red team members, take some notes.
Oh, and Big Brother is alive and well, according to some of the comments left by nut job readers of the article. Sheesh. These "people" don't pay attention to the fact that this was a legal investigation and the taps and bugs were planted through the authorization of orders issued by judges. Yea, let's just forget about that little snippet of reality.
