Michigan newspaper guides readers to presidential campaign offices
The Lansing State Journal newspaper in Lansing, Mich.,is making it easier for its readers to volunteer to work in the U.S. presidential campaigns or to find out more about the candidates and their positions on the issues.
Through a teaser box on its home page, Find One Near You: Presidential Campaign Offices, the paper created an online Web page that allows residents across the state to find the nearest campaign office for the two major presidential candidates.
Users can find locations for local headquarters for both Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain, as well as phone numbers by using their mouse to hover over a location.
Such information can be hard to find locally since the campaign offices spring up after the annual printed telephone books are printed and because the information is sometimes difficult to get locally because of their temporary nature.
It would be great to see more newspapers and television stations create such Web pages to help inform their customers.
