Cisco's unified computing cloud starts with a box

The blades are out in Silicon Valley. In the latest bit of data center combat, Cisco has left the genteel confines of data networks to join the ranks of Dell, Hewlett-Packard and IBM in the great data center blade rumble. Okay, I'll stop all references to West Side Story right here, but if the Cisco press conference that is to be streamed later today is a riff off this press release the company posted this morning, their data center, computing unification event is a big (high powered) computing box wrapped in a wreath of discussion about unified computers/ communications, open standards and data center clouds.
I'll be writing more about this at www.virtualizationfocus.com
So far, Gigaom has a decent preview of the upcoming press event. While I'm sure the Cisco pr crew wants to avoid this being seen simply as another computing box, I'll offer up this photo as the main event.
