Computer industry unemployment - yup, it's up

I just got a look at federal unemployment numbers by industry, and - like almost every area of the economy (except perhaps pawnbroker, repoman and divorce lawyer) - the stats are rather sobering.

For "computer and electronic products" manufacturers, unemployment went from 3.5% in January '08 to 7.9% last month. That's slightly less than the 8.5% overall national rate, not seasonally adjusted.

"Professional and technical services" was still at an impressively low 5.6%, although that includes jobs such as attorneys and veterinarians as well as IT.
