Confused about subnotebooks? Database sorts them out!
SANTA BARBARA, CALIF. -- In the beginning, there was the ASUS Eee PC. That's all you needed to know. Now, there are many Eee PCs, ASUS notebooks that aren't Eee PCs, and a whole bunch of new subnotebooks that don't come from ASUS at all. A new database tracks all.
Journalist Brad Linder maintains an excellent table on his "Liliputing" web site showing at present some 43 models of subnotebooks. The table itself includes name, picture, display specs, CPU and RAM info, storage capacity and type, operating system, connectivity options, battery info, color, weight, price and availability, plus some other information. Each links to a writeup with more information, and links to where you can buy.
By clicking on the heading of any column, you can sort by that feature. For example, if you want the biggest possible screen, just click on the Display heading, and all are listed from biggest screen to smallest. If you're a hopeless cheapscate, click on the Price heading to sort from cheapest ($200) to most expensive.
This is a wonderful resourse, and helps you figure out what's going on in an increasingly crowded field.
