Apple versus Google

Google Sync must be enabled in Apps Control Panel

Last week's Google Sync update that now allows iPhones and Windows Mobile phones to able to sync with Google Apps is a fantastic feature. It worked flawlessly for my GMail account. But for some reason it didn't work for my Google Apps Premiere account. Why? The answer, I just discovered today is that Google has also created another control panel in the Google Apps account management called Mobile Settings.

There is only one setting in this control panel and, you guessed it, it is whether or not to enable Google's Sync. It is off by default. Turn it on and you are ready to start updating your iPhones to the Google Sync.

Remember, Google Sync on iPhone uses the Exchange ActiveSync protocol. On the iPhone this erases your current Calendar and Contacts. Remember to back these up if you plan on importing them later.
