Malicious hackers remind us of why they're loathed

I don't know much about epilepsy, but I have heard that people who suffer from it are sensitive to flashing lights and/or images. Most of us have a distaste for malicious hackers and how oftentimes they try to make a quick buck by scamming innocents.

In this instance though, hackers seem to have sunk to a new low. I read an Associated Press article by Jordan Robertson where the hackers are revealed to be acting simply out of malice. Their intent was to cause seizures in epileptics by posting links to pages that displayed pulsating colors.

Sadly, the hacker exploits have resulted in censure for legitimate users; they're no longer able to post images or create links to potentially helpful sites for epileptics. At least when there's money involved, we can sometimes understand (no, I'm not saying "condone") how greed can be a motivating factor in hacking exploits, but when it's just done malevolently, I'd have to say it's truly repugnant!
