Heathrow Terminal 5 Gets Massive Wi-Fi Hotspot

SANTA BARBARA, CALIF. -- Heathrow's massive newish Terminal 5, which serves all and only British Airways' international passengers through London, just got a Wi-Fi hotspot the size of 50 soccer fields. As an American, I have no idea how large a soccer field is, but it sounds really big.

I had the pleasure of two layovers in Terminal 5 recently, and wrote it about the good news (and the bad).

At the time, there were reasonably convenient connectivity options, including for-pay cybercafes and Wi-Fi services in specific locations.

Now, however, a shiny, new mega-hotspot has been establishined that runs throughout the entire terminal -- the largest T-Mobile hotspot in the UK -- which offers 8Mbps access. Connectivity is free to current T-Mobile customers, and costs almost $9 for one hour or $18 for the day.
