How to REALLY remove info from a PDF -- the legal way

Most useful link of the week may be from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, which spells out in plain language how to avoid putting hidden information in a PDF.

It not only shows how to do it right (with really, really detailed step-by-step instructions), but also lists several ways to avoid because they just don't work.

No, it's not really new information. But if you're supporting users who just won't take your word for it that they have to take special care to make sure that confidential information doesn't appear in Word or PDF documents, point them at this. Maybe they'll believe a judge.

(Thanks to Groklaw for the tip.)
