Here's a bit of trivia: Most people know that California governor Arnold Swarzenegger is a cigar afficionado, but newly appointed CIO Teri Takai says you might not know that the governor has a special outdoor office where he can take meetings and enjoy a Montecristo at the same time.
Ms. Takai spoke today at Computerworld's Premier 100 conference in Orlando.
The governor's office is horseshoe shaped, with a grassy open area in the center where Mr. Swarzenegger has set up a tent/office. While the governor also has an indoor, non-smoking office, she says some meeting notifications may instruct staff to meet in the governor's tent.
Mr. Swarzenegger brought Takai on board last month as California's first CIO. Prior to joining the state of California she was the CIO for the state of Michican, where she was instrumental in both infrastructure consolidation projects and the development of the Michigan.gov Web portal.
