The 3G iPhone shows some GPS clues

Will the 3G iPhone have hardware GPS? It is hard to imaging it wouldn't with the "Landmark Event" coming in June. However some people like to get information early. The best way to get information early on the iPhone is to dig through the iPhone SDK Betas that are coming out of Apple on a weekly basis.
The latest SDK has many references to a GPS system. The most notable are in relation to the camera functionality. The idea is that when you snap a picture, the GPS data (your location) is imprinted in the picture file as metadata.
After you have taken pictures from many locations, you can then arrange your pictures by geographic location in an application like iPhoto. A lot of newer cameras coming out are doing this but, as per usual, they don't have the whole package as Apple often does.

As for Apple's whole ecosystem, it will be interesting to see how Landmark the WWDC actually is.
