iPod Nano 4G revealed, will UI change?

After all of the hoopla, the many manufacturer's 4G iPod Nano skins revealed and Kevin Rose's description, we have what looks to be a 4G Nano. The interesting thing is (obviously) that Apple has reverted to the 2G Nano's form factor albeit with a larger screen (see picture).

So now that apple has a 3:4 aspect ratio (or thereabouts) portrait screen, will the traditional iPod interface have to change as well?

Videos and movies will obviously be better suited to moving the iPod Nano into a landscape mode. But navigating the interface still looks like it will be easier in the verticle mode. Is Apple going to try to fit 480x320 pixels on this little guy? Doubtful.

More likely, they have changed the classic iPod experience to fit a portrait mode. This could also affect iPod Classics.

If Apple does fit more pixels in there, will it gain any of the iPod Touch features?

These things are supposed to double in capacity (8, 16Gb) and be on store shelves as soon as they are announced on Tuesday. Probably in Orange.

What do you think of the new iPod Nano Chromatic.??

Seems a complete change from the shorter version. Is it just the colours that has changed or is there actually some substance behind the newer version.

Am finding it hard to get a proper objective review of the ipod nano. I have only seem one half decent review at http://www.ipodreviews.co.uk

would love to know what others think..

So the new iPods will be in stores on Tuesday as well? I asked at Best Buy today and they didn't know when they would actually start selling the new ones.

Click wheel?

The click wheel will be sideways when it is in landscape mode. That would make for awkward control during a movie, wouldn't it?

Sorry but fake

I am sorry to say that the photo used in this Nano 4g speculation is a poor choice.

It specifically does not comply with the precedents that apple has already set. Their products are forward moving and exciting.

Reverting back to a pseudo Nano 2 would be bad form.

It also is either a really poor photo or a nasty Photoshop job. (probably a combo of both)

The originator of this photo also posted an un-boxed, green version. The packaging was completely different and it used old connectors and docking station.

I don't doubt that the nano may leave its wide body in the dust. But I find this rendering hard to believe..

We'll see. (If I am wrong, I preemptively apologize)

Incorrect. MacNN was first to report this. They were the ones responsible for the spy shot. This J.R. fellow removed the MacNN watermark and applied his own text to it.
