SANTA BARBARA, CALIF. -- A week or two ago, a few gadget blogs covered the Japan-only mini PC called Kohjinsha SC. With built-in GPS, TV antenna and swivel-top tablet mode, the mini laptop is definitely desirable. All reports said it was Japan only. But now you can buy the English-language version in the U.S. for $1100.
The laptop is powered by an Intel Atom chip overclocked to 1.33Ghz, 1 GB RAM and 60 GB HDD. It's got a 7-inch touch screen and weighs well under 2 pounds.
Best of all is what it's got built in: GPS, Wi-Fi, webcam, stereo speakers and -- the most unusual feature -- a TV antenna.
Another nice and unusual feature is a physical sound-volume knob.
The company sells this tiny powerhouse in Japan only. But the U.S. company Dynamism, which installs English-language software on Japanese gadgets and sells then in the U.S., is now offering the laptop for sale.
