Latest MacBook Pro spy shots reveal new design

Engadget found an image from the MacRumors forum that was originally posted on a Chinese language Mac site.  It looks very real.

From what I can see here, the body appears to be made of one piece of aluminum like was predicted earlierIt also has much smaller speaker holes - onces that would be best be drilled by laser than a micro drill bit.  The keys also look to be laser cut.

The ports indicate that there will be a mini-DVI port on the side instead of the current MacBook's regular DVI port...

(Click here for a full sized shot)

The thickness, or better yet the thin-ness of the side panel is also very impressive.  It looks to be about 2/3rds as thick as the current model with the bottom panel being thinner than the length of a USB port.

To extrapolate a bit further it looks like it might have the 16:9 16.1 inch screen we've heard much about.

From a Macrumors forum poster:

some measurements assuming the keyboard is the same length as that found in the MBA.
CAPS LOCK KEY = 1.25"
MBA FROM CAPSLOCK TO RETURN = 10.75"
IMPOSED CAPSLOCK KEYS FROM CAPSLOCK TO EDGE OF CASING X BOTH SIDES = 5"
The bottom casing is 10.75"+5.00" = 15.75"
The MBA screen-enclosure (measured diagonally) to bottom-case ratio is 15" to 13"
That ratio applied to 15.75" would suggest 18.17" accomodate for the fact that screens NEED some border and we have a 2-inch reduction.
The NEW Macbook 'Brick' will have the rumored 16" screen. TRUE 16:9 resolution!

Apple's passed its October 14th press invitaion limit so either we won't have a press event or it will be released a bit later than anticipated.

16:9

It's not going to be 16:9 if it's 16 inches. The current 15" display is WXGA+, of 1440x900, and there is no standard listed on Wikipedia that is both higher resolution and 16:9. 16:10 is a superior aspect ratio anyway. :D

I know someone who sells

I know someone who sells macs. He said a few weeks ago that those new macbooks will be announced october 16th. If thats true, we should hear some news from apple about "lets mac" events today!
i hope hes right..

incorrect math

the only thing is on ENGADGET the guy doing the measuring actually uses the TAB key, whereas he thinks it is the CAPS LOCK key. The CAPS LOCK is the fourth one down

The keys go:
ESC
~
tab
caps lock

so his math and measurements are incorrect.

well, either that or his math is correct and his diagram (overlay is incorrect)
