Mark Hurd's "moment" on the cover of Fortune

I wonder if there is a tech exec "curse of the cover" somewhat like the curse of sports stars that end up on the cover of Sports Illustrated only to see their star start to fall?
In the same week that the media shy boss of Hewlett-Packard Mark Hurd finally made it to the cover of Fortune complete with (mild expletive deleted) quotes and headline trumpeting, "Mark Hurd's moment,"Â his company was in for a couple of moments it would probably rather have avoided.Â
First there was a big press conference by nearby rival Cisco where the once genteel company elbowed its way into H-P's prized server business. Then at midweek, the Wall Street Journal broke the news that deep pocketed IBM was talking about buying Sun. That adds up to even more server competition as well as competition throughout the H-P enterprise business, virtual and otherwise.Â
