We're featuring an article on the Navy's most technologically advanced ship, the USS Freedom, LCS1, the first Littoral Combat Ship designed to operate in shallow water.
The article deals mostly with the new technology the ship introduces, including increased integration, automation and redundancy. It also mentions intense criticism the LCS program has received because of huge cost overruns.
