It has been a long time since I wrote for Computerworld but, like it or not, I am back. The title of this blog series is Technology Matters -- a double entendre -- "the substance of thought" and "to be of importance."
Technology Matters will focus on products and technologies that add value to IT professionals and the businesses they support. The areas that I have the most experience with are storage, data protection and management, and virtualization. So you can expect that there will be a great deal of coverage along those lines. But I reserve the right to write about anything I want.
Technology does matter -- if you don't already know it or believe it - Information Technology is core to every business regardless of how big or what industry it belongs. In fact, IT is the business. The really successful companies get that and the so-so and really messed up ones don't.
