SANTA BARBARA, CALIF. -- Dell's first-ever Tablet PC looks like a winner, if newly leaked internal documents are accurate.
Dell's Jeff Clarke first demonstrated a prototype back in May.
About a month ago, a smattering of specifications on the device leaked. But on a blog posting dated tomorrow, much more detailed specifications on the device have been published, along with new ship dates for various countries and regions. (Note that this information is unconfirmed, and should be considered rumor.)
According to the post, the Latitude XT will ship in the Americas December 3.
The post claims that the tablet PC will be powered by a 1.2 GHz Intel Core2 Duo Ultra Low Voltage processor; 1-3 GB of RAM; an ATI Radeon Xpress 1250 video card; and 256 MB of UMA memory plus variable HyperMemory. The tablet will have three USB 2.0 ports, but just one that supplies power. It'll also have a range of media bay options.
Best of all, it will come with a choice of Wi-Fi options and two mobile broadband options.
The tablet also sports Bluetooth, SD card, RJ-45, Firewire and microphone/headset support.
Buyers will be able to choose from any of three battery options, including a 9-cell High-capacity "smart" lithium-ion battery.
It's not clear whether this tablet offering will sport the multitouch user interface Michael Dell demonstrated last week.
