A tale of two techs?

Something happened to my brother recently that I thought I’d share. His Dell home PC was acting up. He brought it to over and upon quick inspection I determined that his freezing up problems were due to overheating - the result of cessation of his processor’s (CPU) fan. This is easy enough to fix - if we order the proprietary case/CPU fan from Dell. As he had purchased the computer from Dell with the extended warranty, my brother called Dell and scheduled a time for a technician to come and replace the fan.  The technician came within a few days and replaced the fan but right after he left, the computer produced no sound from the speakers. Needless to say, he’s called them again and now has spent several hours on the phone, yet they’ve been unable to remedy the problem. It’s now been several weeks and he’s still waiting for Dell to send a technician back to fix the sound.  Moral of the story: test everything before the tech leaves!

I've had good luck with

I've had good luck with Dell's service and support. They have come out to fix a broken screen and then another time to replace then entire motherboard on my laptop... all within a couple of days of calling. Best $400 I spent as it has already paid for itself. But I'm sure I'm one of the lucky ones...
