hotmama666 not a great screen name for IM at work

IT Blogwatcher Richi Jennings points out in this Ferris Research blog that companies need to exert some control over IM screen names at work to make sure they "present an appropriate image of the company." Especially if employees deal with customers via instant messaging. In the post, Richi provides some policy options for prohibiting offensive words or numbers, and making sure employees don't use the same screen name they use in their personal life.

Commenters said this may be one reason to implement a corporate (vs. public ) IM platform such as IBM's Sametime.
