Where Malware (Spyware, Adware, Viruses, Trojans, etc.) is going
- IT TOPICS:Applications, Management, Networking, Security
Want to know some of the real costs of malware around the world?
Need to know what the threat landscape is likely to look like for the near future in order to protect your business or personal assets?
I highly recommend that you read Whitedust's Future Trends of Malware.
It's easy to get complacent about threats to your network when you see attack after attack get shrugged off by your defenses. Dealing with spyware/adware can make people in general undervalue the real damage that malware can do out there.
That's why it's good that people are writing articles like Future Trends of Malware.
The really scary bits in the piece are the catalogs of some recent events caused by malware. Hard to say that malware doesn't cause damage after reading about the bigger problems caused by malicious software in recent years.
Also very eye raising is the rise of extortion through malware schemes that are cropping up.
The consolidation of smaller players into larger organized groups also does not bode well for internet security in the near future.
Should definitely make IT managers out there make sure that their protection and security are sufficiently layered and hardened to protect against these future threats.
