The Security Sector

Microsoft making a giant step in the right direction

I switched sides and became a Macintosh fan a few years ago as I felt the Apple offered the average computer user better default security. And, while I'm not the biggest fan of Microsoft security practices, I do see all subsequent iterations of their operating system improving all the time. That said, I also feel that Founder and CEO Bill Gates is one of the smartest guys in the business and he's received a bad rap about the security of his products. Let's face it, as consumers we like things to work, to be easy to use, and to be backward compatible with the older software and hardware we already have. On that front, Microsoft has delivered. At the Valentine's day RSA conference, Mr. Gates spoke about the next generation Vista OS and how it will dramatically improve security. From what I've seen, it looks like a great step in the right direction. Kudos to Microsoft for stepping up to the plate and attacking security head on. The question is, will it be enough to win me back?
