The Security Sector

Some of your personal info is already public!

I had to chuckle when I read this CW article. For starters, Social Security numbers should NEVER be posted for everyone to see. That said, how much other information about you is available on the Internet? Well, in my township, I'm able to look up how much my neighbors are paying in real estate taxes. That type of stuff has always been open to public inspection. Organizations both public and private must do all they can to ensure confidentiality of our sensitive data. In my opinion, we need more advocates like Illinois Senator Barack Obama, who recently introduced a bill in opposition of a proposed IRS rule change that would allow tax preparers to disclose certain sensitive taxpayer information to third parties.
