Looking at the insider threat!
- IT TOPICS:Security
A recent CW article talked about the insider threat and stressed the need for tighter internal controls from security managers. The cold hard fact is that the insider threat has always posed a challenge for security personnel, especially with the plethora of currently available inexpensive and tiny storage devices which possess the ability to hold enormous amounts of data. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: security starts from the inside out. One of the greatest vulnerabilities for an organization arises from security breaches perpetrated by insiders. The reason is simple; insiders can accomplish theft and sabotage more easily. Be sure to implement employee awareness programs and see to it that the insider threat is covered by computer security policies within your organization. For more information on public awareness in general, visit the Global Security Week which is deliberately designed to be a broadly-scoped event but with a long-term aim to become the main focus for security awareness activities for years to come.
