And another lawsuit against Microsoft
- IT TOPICS:Security
Keep the stories coming! What is interesting to me is, "WGA gathers data that can easily identify individual PCs, and WGA can be modified remotely to collect additional information at Microsoft's initiation. WGA collects a computers IP address, BIOS data, system version and local language and settings information..."
The scary part is that Microsoft can remotely initiate data collection without your knowledge or consent. I have to agree with security researchers - this is spyware.
The suit asks, according to the story, for Microsoft to provide compensation to injured parties and to release a removal tool. There's got to be another way for Microsoft to stem the tide of software piracy. I am a law abiding citizen and pay for my software licenses. I don't appreciate the invasive technique Microsoft is using in their campaign against piracy. It appears that I am not the only one.
