A Day in the Life of an Information Security Officer

Free security for home users

I have long admired eEye Digital Security.  They appear to always be in the know on the latest technical vulnerabilities.  It recently came to my attention that they will be offering a suite of tools for free to home users.  This sounds a lot better than the Yahoo!-Norton deal.  They have offered free security tools for as long as I have known about them.  Check it out.

The company sells a product called Blink® Endpoint Intrusion Prevention. According to this story, the company will be offering free to home users, a "Blink Personal" version.  The software "will include the same protocol-based intrusion prevention, anti-spyware tools, identity theft defense, and personal firewall as the enterprise-grade version."  This is a wonderful thing.

Keep an eye out for the announcement.  I checked their website and while you can download an evaluation copy of the enterprise version, I didn't readily see an announcement for the personal edition.  Let me know what you think.
