Symantec and Dell get the message
Today's announcement by Symantec and Dell is terrific to see. The details of the announcement complement Microsoft Exchange Server with a bundle of Symantec messaging security products and Dell servers and professional services. I like the fact that security is integrated with a critical business function, and that the deploying the benefit of secure messaging is made as simple as possible for the end-user. This is a robust solution that covers the archive and reporting needs that everybody needs for proper administration and compliance as well as providing secure messaging services.
This is more than a packaging of tired bits that I sometimes see - Symantec not only includes industry leading messaging security, but also ensures that customers have message archive and backup capabilities. Dell has supplied servers, and has tested the packaged configuration to make it as easy as possible to be deployed on day 1. The customer does not have to cobble together additional data management products on top of e-mail delivery and messaging security. The delivery Dell mechanism for medium businesses could not be better. The focus is on improving the solution for the customer. It is a good thing anytime that happens.
Kudos to Dell, Microsoft and Symantec for working together on a package that will make life easier for medium sized businesses.
