CIO as chief governance officer
- IT TOPICS:Government & Regulation, Management
As if you don't have enough fun already policing IT standards, fingering porn-surfers and dealing with Sarbanes-Oxley, Bloor Research analyst Peter Abrahams says that the CIO would be the ideal candidate to be chief governance officer (aka chief compliance officer).
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is the obvious candidate for this new role as the CIO is already responsible for all automated and computer assisted processes. Any process that has been automated can be monitored and reports can be produced attesting to compliance. Conversely, any process that is not automated at all is very difficult to monitor and govern.
