Surviving a bad manager
- IT TOPICS:Careers
There's an excelent piece about surviving a bad manager in your job by Scott Berkun. There are a number of salient points - although his best advice is to try and get out as quickly as possible. If you decide to stay then he offers a number of interesting approaches and solutions for working with your manager with as little contact as possible.
My wife has just suffered the fate of bad management for the last couple of years and has now, thankfully, started a new job with a significantly better manager and environment. They even managed to house her during last weeks unpleasantness in London.
Scott is also author of The Art of Project Management. If the book follows the advice he provides in this article it's going to be a stunner. I'm waiting for a copy which I'll review (and hopefully have an interview) for The Writers Perspective.
