Shark Tank

Shark Tank: He probably just scanned it

It's time to replace a wide-format scanner/printer that's been serving this city government office for many years, says a pilot fish in charge of the transition.

"It has lived well past its useful life, and we're replacing it with a new, faster machine," fish says.

And to make sure the transition goes smoothly, fish prepares an e-mail to send to the heads of all departments that used the old machine. The message tells them that the new equipment is coming in, the date it's arriving, the time installation will begin, the time training will begin and class size limits for training.

Oh, and that additional training sessions will be added based on each department submitting a list of personnel to be trained.

Reports fish: "One department head received the e-mail and asked the following questions:

"What date is the equipment scheduled to be installed?"

"When will training begin?"

"Is there a limit on how many people he can send for training?"

"Will there be additional training offered if the class size is too big?"

"I re-sent the original e-mail and told him to read it again."

WW3?? Erm, did I miss something?

A little scary that you think there has been a 3rd World War.
Also, the 'War on Terror' is nothing new to most of the world, who have been experiencing terrorism for many years and they just got on with life. Its only since the USA was attacked that it became a major issue. Look at how much harder it is to get on a plane these days, yet in the 1970's, hijackings occured all the time.
USA may stand for many good things, but I've lost a lot of freedom since it became involved in the War on Terror.
(and no, I don't live in Europe)

When tasked by a division

When tasked by a division Big-Wheel to analyze and solve a critical customer issue, I replied immediately that a) customer didn't provide enough information to recreate the problem, b) I had instructed customer on how to enable and collect the appropriate logs, c) the problem could not be consistently reproduced. In ALL CAPS LETTERS and bold I added that I could NOT provide a date for when this issue would be resolved. I immediately received the following response: "When can you have this resolved?"

The dissing of America is

The dissing of America is old and boorsome and so is the dissing of males. I was in an 'enlightment' class where I was the only male. After several comments about stupid males I told them that I was tired of it and did not appreciate it and they then saw the light and stopped.

If only that it were one of

If only that it were one of those situations in which the dolt in question also used the reply all function.

We had a manager around here that just deleted any email he was cc'd on.

I guess he figured if it wasn't sent to him there was no point in reding it.

Jam - I do see your point,

Jam -

I do see your point, but don't you think that Ugly European was implying that he was better with his "typical AMerican - don't think just react" nonsense? Actually, its probably not even that deep. He prob just thought it was OK to join the bash america crowd and didn't expect any push back. (when I read it I didn't expect any response)

In a way, even though he was over the top, I say good for Independence Day for standing up for himself. Personally, I'm sick of the America Sucks nonsense too. America is not always right, but IMHO they try to do the right thing.

Can't we just accentuate the positives that we both share?

sorry for the meander, but I never post on these things.

"stupid... dogma sounds..."

"stupid... dogma sounds..." Maybe it does sound stupid to the rest of the world, but they certainly want the largesse, protection and aid when they're in need. We get blamed for our errors and mistakes, and dissed and insulted for our good deeds. "No good deed shall go unpunished."

Just An Observer - I think

Just An Observer - I think Ugly European was just trolling and Independence Day bit big time and responded with much chest pounding and pontificating. Something we have too much of today in America. Too many Americans just don't realize how stupid the "super power" and "leader of the free world" dogma sounds to the other 6.3 billion people in the world.
