Computing From the Front Lines

Laser printers bad for your health

This somewhat worrying study, Laser printers as bad as cigarette smoke, explains that some laster printers are outputting a large number of particulates in the form of unused toner.

Those particles are precisely what you don't want if you have any sort of breathing condition, like asthma, or even, to be honest, if you don't.

According to the article, a large number of HP printers are in the list that output a high number of particulates. Laser printers were already known to output a lot of ozone, adding toner to the mix will not do them any favors.

What People Are Saying

We have become such a

We have become such a paranoid "sanitized" society that any little thing becomes an issue of health. If you are worried about this then you'd better not have new carpet, insulation, vinyl flooring installed in your home. God forbid you clean your home with anything other than soap and water, think of all the ammonia and bleach that is hurting your lungs.
Stop driving cars because they too emit harmful gases and particulates. Yes buy that electric car that emits ozone and while not emitting carbon itself, it does depend on a power grid that is comprised primarily of coal burning plants.

Get over it!
I'm not for mitigating the issue but for all the press it has been getting lately you'd think it was anthrax.

The Health Issues

Fred: I agree to your comment. I believe, we are being more sensitive, but now we have no way to live without such accessories. So its better to use the better measures to save our health.
