PETA berates YouTube cat abuse, ignores terrorism

The loonies at the animal rights group PETA are at it again: They've vehemently protested a YouTube video posted from a Hamas-run TV station showing animal abuse, but ignore the countless acts of terrorism committed by Hamas, and turn a blind eye to to Hamas terrorist videos posted on YouTube.

I guess it's just another normal day for people who care more about cats than they do about human beings.

Reuters reports that PETA was lodging a protest against a Hamas-run TV station, after a video from the station showed up on YouTube, which depicted animal abuse.

"It's shocking and sickening," Reuters quotes Martin Mersereau, manager of the domestic animal abuse division of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) as saying about the YouTube clip.

In the YouTube clip, an actor dressed as a bee at the Gaza Zoo mildly mistreats several cats and lions.

Hamas, an internationally recognized terror group, has certainly committed numerous "shocking and sickening" acts, including suicide bombings, murder, and more. Among the many videos about Hamas on YouTube are "inspirational videos" of Hamas attacks using Al-Qassam rockets, videos glorifying suicide bombers, and anti-Semitic rants calling for the destruction of Israel. There's even a video showing Mickey Mouse teaching terrorism to kids.

None of that concerns PETA however. It's cats they care about. And the "animal abuse" depicted in the video is pretty mild, as you can see here. Cats are picked up by their tails for a second or two. Small stones are thrown at lions.

There's plenty of reasons to criticize Hamas for terrorism. But holding a cat by its tail or tossing a small stone at a lion shouldn't be at the top of the list.

What People Are Saying

Even though PETA is for

Even though PETA is for animals they should not just make a big deal out of a trivial problem compared to others. They complete ignore human suffering and get huffy and puffy about some minor animal abuse. Plus they are taking all the glory concerning Kenny Glenn, jerks...

Amazingly an animal welfare

Amazingly an animal welfare group is not weighing in on terrorism! I am still waiting on a response from PETA's anti-terrorism department on this horrible lack of support. In related news the Marines are not being brought in on to sort out the YouTube cat abuse case. The Obama administration has also informed me personally that the Pentagon is not even considering the development of a cat-abuse strike force. What is wrong with the world?

Oh, man is this old!

Funny, this was linked to an unrelated youtube cat abuse story that just happened this week! It's really old! Still just as silly as the day it was written though.

PETA has animal rights as

PETA has animal rights as it's focus group. You don't see Amnesty International mingling into animal rights issues, or Greenpeace into human rights affairs. Mixing this up as an argument is no argument to me. I'm not even a PETA-fan, but your argumentation is weak.

Unfortunately this writers

Unfortunately this writers missed the point completely. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Thats what PETA stands for. Why would an animal rights group protest about terrorism? It's like asking why an environmentalist group isn't protesting against a decrease in funding for cancer patients. That's just not what their about. It doesn't mean they don't care.

Preston Gralla is a weak writer, with a weak point.

Was the focus the Hama

Was the focus the Hama animal abuse? Answer
yes. Did that mean Peta does not care about
the other abhorant activities of the Hamas?
Of course not. Only people who rave on and on
in a nonsensical form would make that a point
of argument. And in the end, we will all answer for our actions and the judgements we
visit on others.
