Rumor-mill says iPhone 6 release date moved forward.
Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is said to be readying the next iPhone sooner than expected. Cupertino-watchers point to (ahem) "sources" in Apple's Chinese supply chain who are reporting revised plans.
It looks like we're only talking about the 4.7-inch device, so who knows when the 5.5-inch phablet will be available.

That leaves...less than 10 percent for the 5.5-inch phablet. ... One of the most often cited reasons is the high cost and/or lack of availability of sapphire as a display cover material. ... If the [rumors] are the real deal, expect a thinner iPhone with fewer straight lines and hard edges. Like today’s iPod touch...rounded corners on the back. ... While I like my iPhone 5s, I actually enjoy holding the older iPod touch [because it] doesn’t dig into my hand.

While it's clear that the iPhone 5s had a lot more juice in it than what many of us had believed...Apple would still benefit immensely from launching the iPhone 6 early.
There is no smartphone vendor with the brand cachet and the software ecosystem "stickiness" that Apple has. As the company rolls out products that appeal to an even broader swath of the high end market, it should capture more share. ...
