UK-based Ibtimes got their hands on the specs to one of Google's new ChromeOS Netbooks that they'll reportedly sell direct rather than through resellers (though it isn't had to see mobile carriers subsidizing the product, especially Tmobile and Verizon in the US). They say Google may subsidize it as well, and they'd have to if they want to put the reported $300 price tag on the device.

Google's vision for Chrome OS isn't going to replace what is on your desk now ... unless you are working and reading this on a netbook, that is.

Invitations have gone out. Google is going to share information on their upcoming Chrome Operating system on Thursday morning at Googleplex HQ in Mountain View, California.

Well, that didn't take long. Not 24 hours after the bombshell announcement that Google was building a mainstream desktop OS, supposed leaked pictures and some possible specs emerge.

While many of us thought Google's laptop and desktop OS would be an extension of Android, Google had been working on the ChromeOS. Announced today in a simple blogpost by Sundar Pichai, Google VP Product Management and Linus Upson, Engineering Director, the new OS is also a Linux derivative and will also run on ARM and x86 processors.
