One of the biggest surprises of Macworld 2008 was the lack of an announcement on the professional line of Apple laptops. Most pundits, myself included were expecting these to come out last week.

That doesn't mean Apple's pro customers are going to have to wait much longer. A few of the stars are aligning that may bring Apple's flagship laptops a much needed upgrade within the next few months.

The Apple rumor machine kicks into high gear this weekend, as veteran iWebsite, iLounge, claims a well-sourced rumor: that the iPad 3 ships in March while the iPhone 5 will boast a metal back and LTE support. Let the debate begin.

With the brick rumor information out of the way, now we can all speculate what this new Apple manufacturing means. Has Apple simply outsourced a rapid prototyping facility in Asia or is Steve Jobs fulfilling an 18 year old dream to move up the value chain in the production of computers?

It's that time of year again. Time for Apple to unleash its yearly dose of products. There are always a few surprises so I've made an exhaustive list of all the possible announcements (that I can think of).

If you believe the rumor mill, we are likely to see new MacBook Pros from Apple on any given Tuesday. Those machines will likely come in the same 15 inch and 17 inch size delineations. If you look at the pictures (below - from Engadget), you'll notice that there isn't much in the way of footprint size difference between the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pros.

MacBook Pros seem like a lock for the October 14th - ish time frame. It has been a reaaalllllly long time since Apple upgraded the MacBook Pros and a growing number of signs are pointing to a immanent release....

Yesterday, I detailed Apple's Pro lineup of desktops and my thoughts on their future specs. Today, I'll lay out my thoughts on the consumer MacBook line - which should be released very soon.

If you've bought a 13-inch Unibody MacBook in the last few weeks, you might be in for a pleasant surprise. Apple has secretly updated the screens on recent MacBooks to a significantly higher quality. One very similar to, if not the exact same as, the more expensive MacBook Air.  The MacBooks in the Apple Stores haven't even been updated yet.

While out trolling some message boards, I happened upon a Flickr image of what looks like a Photoshopped Apple Web page with a new, thinner MacBook Touch type of device...but there was something next to this device that piqued my interest.
